What Are 2027’s Engagement Ring Trends?

For 2027, the top engagement ring trends are artful and individual. Designers are rethinking how a ring is composed: metalwork that curves around the stone, small diamonds grouped into one design, a center stone turned on its side.

But it all starts with how a ring is seen. "An engagement ring is seen from above, from the side, and in motion, and we design for all three," says Annie Chen, SVP of Merchandising. "The profile matters as much as the top view, so we pay close attention to how the setting curves, how the metal meets the finger, and how the stone sits within it."

Here's a quick look at the six engagement ring trends shaping 2027:

  • Sculptural settings: Curved, twisted, and contoured metalwork that wraps around the stone.
  • Bold settings: Broader bands, domed profiles, and flush-set stones.
  • Cluster settings: Multiple smaller diamonds arranged into one larger design.
  • Vintage-inspired settings: Hand engraving, Art Deco lines, and milgrain detail.
  • Bezel settings: Metal that frames the stone, from slim rims to bezel-prong and frame styles.
  • East-west settings: A stone set horizontally across the finger.

Shaped With Intention

1. Sculptural Settings

Sculptural settings treat the metal itself as part of the design. Bands curve, twist, and split around the stone, and the ring looks just as artistic and intentional from the side as it does from above.

"Sculptural rings start with the metal," says Chen. "We think about the line it draws around the finger and how it frames the stone, and then we build the setting to follow that line. A twist or a curve changes how light reaches the diamond, so the shape of the metal and the sparkle of the stone are designed together."

2. Bold Settings

Bold settings, like bands of wider widths, domed profiles, flush-set stones, and multiple bands woven into one ring, give the metal more presence. The stone sits on a broader foundation, and the proportions feel confident.

"A wider band changes the proportions of the whole ring," says Chen. "It gives the stone a broader base, and it gives us room for details like flush settings, domed profiles, and several bands working together. Fine settings let the stone lead, while bold settings share the stage with it. It's a choice about balance, and it comes down to the look you love."

3. Cluster Settings

Cluster settings group several smaller diamonds into one larger design. Instead of a single center stone, the eye reads a shape: a flower, a rosette, a mosaic of facets.

"With a cluster, light comes from many small facets at once, so the sparkle feels livelier and more layered," says Chen. "It's also a way to get a large visual presence from smaller stones. Because the design is made up of so many parts, no two clusters feel quite alike."

4. Vintage-Inspired Settings

Hand engraving, Art Deco lines, and milgrain edges continue to shape engagement ring design. Each engraved line is cut into the metal, and Art Deco styles bring strong geometry and symmetry to the setting.

"Engraving and milgrain give a ring surface detail, and Art Deco lines give it structure," says Chen. "What's different today is the precision. The engraving is crisp, the stones sit exactly where they should, and the profile is built to be comfortable every day. You get the romance of an older style in a ring made for now."

Modern Simplicity

5. Bezel Settings

A bezel surrounds the stone with a rim of metal, but for 2027, new versions play with proportion. Bezels can be slim and delicate, or substantial and graphic, with bezel-prong and frame-style designs that outline the stone in their own way.

"The rim is the design decision," says Chen. "A fine rim keeps the focus on the diamond, and a wider one turns the metal into part of the look. Partial bezels and bezel-prong styles open up the sides of the stone so more light can reach it, which gives you the clean lines of a bezel with extra sparkle."

6. East-West Settings

East-west settings turn the stone sideways, so it spans the width of the finger instead of running vertically up. The change is small, but the effect is immediate: a wider, more horizontal look that feels unmistakably modern.

"Turning a stone east-west changes how the ring sits on the hand," says Chen. "It covers more of the finger from side to side, which gives the ring a relaxed, modern feeling. It also works across many styles, from solitaires and tapered baguettes to bezels and signets, so it's an easy way to give a familiar design a new point of view."
